Joao de Sousa (João de Sousa) – vocalist, songwriter and guitarist from Porto, Portugal. Based in Poland. Started developing himself musically when he was 12 years old.
Collaborated with Andrzej Smolik (music producer from Warsaw with several platinum albums), the band Mikromusic (flourishing band from the indie-jazz-pop scene) and Ariel Ramirez (bandoneon player from Argentina, one of the best in Europe), among others.
The project Joao de Sousa & Fado Polaco released an album with the same title on 2012. Since then Joao has played hundreds of concerts throughout Poland but also Germany and Italy for a mixed audience of fans of world music, fado and music lovers in general.
In his creative output Joao reaches out for inspiration on his musical roots like fado, jazz, rythms from Africa and Brazil and mixes those traditions in a modern way with a hint of pop sensibility that is interesting and fresh. Joao de Sousa’s concerts are dynamic and create an atmosphere of intimacy that provides the audience with an evening of high class entertainment where there is a place for unpredictability and close contact with the public.
Joao de Sousa took part in the 4th season of the polish X Factor where he reached the final with only 12 participants.
