Leszek Zaleski Quartet
Leszek Zaleski Quartet is a project established by graduates of the Wrocław Academy of Music. The group members are: Leszek Zaleski (guitar), Dawid Troczewski (piano), Piotr Sypień (double bass) and Michał Polak (drums). Their music is a mix of jazz and smooth jazz, with an expressive rhythm section and rich guitar and piano improvisations. The music is written by Leszek Zaleski, being inspired by Pat Metheny, John Scofield and Brad Mehldau.
Beside jazz club concerts they have already played on prestigious festivals, such as Festiwal dell’Arte (Jazz On Grass) and Wrocław Guitar Festival (Gitara+), where they have been in one line-up with such artists as Marek Napiórkowski, Wojtek Pilichowski, Artur Lesicki, Krzysztof Kiljański, Krzysztof Pełech and Zbigniew Namysłowski.
The musicians also participate in various projects and bands, playing in such diverse styles as funk, pop, jazz and classical music. Every band member has also individually recorded for radio and television (TVP 1, Live Concert at Polish Radio 3, Polsat TV, Polonia TV). They have also participated in CD recordings and soundtrack recordings for such movies as „Phantom Father” and „Być jak Kazimierz Deyna” („Being Kazimierz Deyna”).
The band members are laureates of the International Competition „European Jazz Newcomer” (Czech Republic) and The Warsaw Jazz Pianists Festival. They have played with such bands and musicians as: Brad Terry, Dennis Hernandez, Krystyna Prońko, Stan Borys, Musicofeelya, Iwona Loranc, Mack Goldsbury, Piotr Wojtasik.
